Hello Subscriber
From time to time I find strange suggestions to save energy. My personal favourite is a copper wire around the meter, one side with a zinc electrode and an apple as power supply on top. (Apple refers in this context to the natural fruit hardware.) The idea is generating an electromagnetic field to disturb the meter. Energy meters are tested for this kind of disturbances with one ampere and 400 turns. An apple (EU-standard size) can deliver about one volt and 0.5 milliampere. How many apples do we need to reach the IEC test conditions?

I recently stumbled over some advertisements related to plug-in or paste devices which are claimed to reduce the electricity bill by an average of 10%.
