All electronic energy meters have a high accurate timer for the waveform sampling. These timers are operating with micro seconds.
Some meters, mainly with complex tariff structures, need to keep date and time. This functionality is controlled by the Real Time Clock.

For a real time clock (RTC) CLOU energy meters are operating with an external quartz crystal with a frequency of 32.768 kHz.

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Electronic energy meters are recording the actual power over a certain time. The microprocessor inside of these meters allows all kind of additional calculations.
