[Las Vegas, U.S. – September 9, 2025] CLOU has launched the Aqua-C3.0 Pro, its latest liquid-cooled energy storage system, at RE+ 2025 in Las Vegas. This system builds on the Aqua-C2.5 platform, offering higher capacity, improved efficiency, and enhanced safety features. The Aqua-C3.0 Pro is designed for utility-scale and commercial applications where reliability and operational simplicity are essential.
Key Features and Improvements
The Aqua-C3.0 Pro uses a 600Ah+ cell, delivering up to 6.88 MWh of storage in a standard 20-foot container. Direct liquid cooling reduces temperature differences between cells, which improves efficiency and extends battery life. The system achieves a round-trip efficiency of up to 92.3%.
CLOU's Smart Scales technology actively balances cell energy in real time. This reduces power derating and minimises the risk of shutdowns, leading to a 4% increase in total lifetime energy output. The SiC String PCS further reduces electrical losses, maintaining stable performance even at partial loads.
The CTR architecture eliminates unnecessary modules and connection points, improving consistency across battery clusters and reducing maintenance requirements.
Safety by Design
Safety is addressed at multiple levels. The CTR architecture separates thermal and electrical pathways and enables controlled venting. Real-time cell balancing prevents weak cell deviations and abrupt temperature increases. The SiC String PCS supports smooth transitions during grid disturbances, reducing stress on battery cells.
The Aqua-C3.0 Pro also features the 2.0 ThermoFlux active ventilation explosion-proof system, developed with the Midea Group's Corporate Research Center. This system provides layered protection, including thermal runaway detection, water-based suppression, explosion venting, and active ventilation, in line with North American safety standards.
Operational Simplicity
Deployment and operation are streamlined. The 20-foot container format simplifies transport and installation. Fewer components and interfaces, shorter harnesses, and direct bus bars reduce assembly time and maintenance. Active balancing lowers the need for manual intervention. The self-powered auxiliary system simplifies low-voltage wiring and supports parallel construction and pre-commissioning, reducing lead times and lifecycle costs.
Field Performance
CLOU's Aqua-C3.0 Pro has been deployed in several large-scale projects, including the first large lithium-ion ESS project in Indiana, the largest storage power station in Mississippi, and a high-compliance project in California. These installations demonstrate reliable performance under demanding conditions and compliance with international standards.
Conclusion
The Aqua-C3.0 Pro is a practical solution for operators seeking efficient, safe, and easy-to-maintain energy storage. CLOU continues to support customers with local teams and products adapted to regional requirements.
