How to get a Clear Tamper Token?

STS meter
STS prepayment meter

One of our most read articles is about the clear tamper token. You can read more about STS Payment Metering here or on the official website of the STS Association. The complete STS system is pretty much secure. Only the power companies or utilities can generate tokens for various meter functions. If a meter is in tamper mode, the utility can figure out the reason by simply reading the log-file inside the meter. So there is nothing to worry about.

Nevertheless we are receiving on daily base requests for "Clear Tamper Token".

For all of you who haven't read or understood the first paragraph. If your meter is in tamper-mode and you don't want to contact your power supplier you have the following options:

Try all possible tokens

This will take you about 40 millenniums depending on your input speed. (One millennium is 1,000 years). You better make a list with all combinations first to avoid double entries. Actually the time gets longer because our STS payment meters and most competitor ones have a lock-out after a certain number of wrong attempts.

Consult your local fortune teller

Maybe it helps and he/she comes out with the right token. Most likely you need to consider a service fee.

Use the Magic Random Short Time Token Generator

It generates a Magic Random Short Time Token (MRSTT) and it's valid for one minute only. We are using a fancy artificial intelligence algorithm. Due to heavy server load during the day we recommend to choose a time between midnight and sun rise. It's also important that you have a strong believe.
Putting some garlic on the UIU (user interface unit) helps to avoid the vampire radiation.

In the likely event that it doesn't work you need to contact your power supply company. In addition it's helpful to read the first paragraph.

Anyway, thank you for reading and good luck. Comments are welcome :)

Summary for those who are to lazy to read the article

Only your local power company or energy provider can generate token for your meter. Don't ask us or other manufacturers. We can not help you.

If you still like to ask for a clear tamper token, please tell us what happened before the meter show "tamper".
It will be interesting for our readers and for further evaluations.

  1. Hey my name is Martin Gouws I have a owner of his house which has the Pioneer Metering EMS box installed and it's already been installed but sometime the wire generate some heat after carefully inspection I could clearly see the wires they used are to thin and now I would like to replace the wires to the correct thickness but then the tampering code will pop up and don't have it because it's been put in the first time when box was installed which is 55555 how can I go about to assist the customer there is no problem with tampering yet but I know if I do open it and install new wiring it's going to give me that problem

    1. A meter is installed under supervision of the local power company. Only they can issue a 'clear tamper' token for your customer. This is a meter-specific token for one time use only, and it can only be generated by the utility responsible for the installation. Talk to the power company first, how to handle. The meter will definitely go in tamper-mode once you open the terminal cover.

  2. My wasion meter is not accepting the credit.
It is rejecting the credit, so I kindly need a code to restart my meter or to make my meter to accept the token
    Thanks

    1. There is no code to reset a STS meter. Waison is a different manufacturer, but the handling is for all STS meters the same. A token is rejected when the input was wrong. This happens, e.g. when the token was issued for a different meter number. Your power vending company needs to help you.

  3. Our cash power meter this days supposed to switch of itself but they said wanna know the unlock code Gambia

    1. Your meter is from Landis+Gyr. But since it's an STS payment meter, there is no unlock-code for safety reasons. They should know it.

  4. how to resolve the problem when yiu got the wasion meter it have a negative unit ?

    1. I suppose your meter has an over-draft allowance. So it can run maximum about 20 units in minus. You can resolve the problem by topping up credit.

  5. My wasion meter.
How do I reset my wasion meter.
Secondly, what is the trip test code for my wasion meter.
And lastly, how do I know my meter number

    1. We are CLOU. Waison is a different manufacturer, so we can only tell you where to find the meter number. By standards it has to be printed on the meter nameplate and has 11 digits.

    1. We are the meter manufacturer and can only provide the brief process information. Your thank goes to your power supply company.

    1. Except of your local power supply company, no one can assist. The STS payment system is safe. For more information, look here.
